Privacy Policy.
Last updated: October 12, 2026 · What changed: we now keep an anonymous daily count of visits that arrive from AI answers such as ChatGPT (Section 4). Earlier (October 2): we explain what happens when the free name generator emails you its names, and the optional, unticked box for naming tips (see “Free name ideas by email”). Earlier (September 23): we note which ad or link brought a purchase, for that browser tab only (Section 4). Earlier (September 20): we added optional, first-party site analytics that runs only if you accept it in the cookie banner (Section 4), and we now honor Global Privacy Control signals (Section 7).
1. Information we collect
- Your email address — to deliver your package and send you a sign-in link.
- Your order information — what you purchased and when.
- The business description you enter — so we can generate names that fit it.
- Payment information — handled by a PCI-compliant payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
- Basic usage data — standard technical information your browser sends, used to keep the service working. If you accept optional analytics, also the site-measurement events described in Section 4.
- Your acknowledgment record — the first time you download or use an asset, we record the name you type, your account email, the date and time, and the version of the terms you accepted, so both you and we have a record that you reviewed and agreed to them before use.
- Assets you create or download — the brands, designs, and documents generated for you, kept so you can return to them.
2. How we use your information
We use it to generate and deliver your Brand Identity Strategy, process your payment, let you access your purchased brands, provide support, and improve the service. We also keep a record of the terms you accepted before downloading, so we can show what you agreed to if a question ever arises. We do not sell your personal information.
Emails we send. Your brand kit, receipts, and Studio sign-in links are transactional and go out whenever you order or ask. After delivery we also send a small number of follow-up notes — a check-in on how the names landed, a re-check of your domain a week later, a reminder that six more names are free, and one reminder if you started checkout and stopped. Each of those carries a one-click unsubscribe link and an unsubscribe header your email app can use; opting out stops every follow-up note at once and never affects your kit, receipts or sign-in links. You can also reply STOP to any note.
Free name ideas by email. If you ask the free name generator to email you its names, we send that one email and keep your address with the idea and names, so we can answer if you write back. We send nothing more unless you order, or you tick the box for Spark’s free naming tips. That box starts unticked; if you tick it, we may send naming tips about once a month, and every one carries a one-click unsubscribe link.
3. Service providers we rely on
To run SparkMyName we use a small number of trusted, industry-standard service providers, each bound by its own privacy and security commitments and permitted to use your data only to perform services for us. By function, these are:
- Payment processing — a PCI-compliant payment processor handles your payment. We never see or store your full card number.
- Account storage & sign-in — a secure cloud database stores your account and packages and powers passwordless sign-in.
- Email delivery — an email delivery provider sends your package and sign-in emails.
- Website hosting — a cloud hosting provider serves the website securely.
- AI generation — the business description you enter, the names it produces and any words you type into your Studio’s Art Department are sent to third-party AI text and image providers to generate your names, copy and images. Those requests are screened against our Acceptable Use Policy before they are sent; a declined request is counted and the first 80 characters of its text are kept for 30 days so we can tune the screen — it is not tied to your name or email. Please don’t include sensitive personal information, or anyone else’s personal information, in a description or an image request.
- Content credentials — the image files we deliver carry metadata stating that they were AI-generated, the brand they were made for and a credit line. They do not contain your email address, account details or order information. They do name the brand the image was made for, so if your brand name is your own name, that name will appear in the file.
We can provide more detail about a specific provider on request at support@sparkmyname.com.
4. Cookies, local storage and site measurement
Essential. We use minimal cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, to remember your language, currency and email, and to carry your idea through checkout. We do not use them for advertising.
Which link brought you. If you arrive from one of our ads or a tagged link, we remember for that browser tab only (session storage, cleared when the tab closes) the campaign name, which ad network sent you (never the click identifier itself), the page you landed on and the site that linked to you. If you then buy, that information is attached to your order so we can tell which of our ads work. It contains no personal information and is never used to track you across other sites.
Optional analytics, only with your yes. When you first visit, a banner asks whether we may count page visits, clicks on the main buttons, ideas submitted, checkouts started, film plays and completed orders. This is first-party: it runs on our own address, stores the events in our own database, and sends nothing to advertising or analytics companies. It records the event, the page address without any query string, the site you came from, phone/tablet/desktop, browser language, country and a random session id held in your browser for 30 days. It never records the idea you typed, your email, your name, your order, your Studio content, your voice or payment details, and the records are deleted after 13 months. It stays off until you choose “Accept”; you can buy with it off, and you can change your choice any time from “Cookie settings” in the footer, which also deletes the session id. A browser Global Privacy Control signal is treated as “No thanks”.
Visits from AI answers, counted anonymously. When you open our site from an AI answer (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot or a similar assistant), we add one to a daily count of which assistant sent the visit and which of our pages it opened. That is all the count holds: no session id, no cookie, nothing stored in your browser, and no device, language, country or IP address saved with it. Like every request to our site, your connection’s address is used for up to two days only to stop abuse. The count tells us whether AI answers recommend SparkMyName; it is never used for advertising. It is skipped if you chose “No thanks” in the cookie banner or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, and counts are deleted after 13 months.
Page speed. Our hosting provider may load a small performance-monitoring script that records how quickly pages load (load time and page path). It uses no cookies, does not identify you, and is not used for advertising.
The full list, with retention periods, is on our Cookies page.
4a. Voice input
You can talk to SparkMyName instead of typing, two ways. The “Speak” button next to the idea box uses your browser’s built-in speech-to-text: your browser (and, depending on the browser, its maker’s speech service) turns what you say into text on the spot, and only the resulting text is placed in the box — we never receive the audio. The Spark conversation streams your voice, while the microphone is on, directly from your browser to our AI voice provider, which transcribes it and talks back; the audio is used to hold the conversation and is not stored by us. What you ask for ends up as text in your order, the same as if you had typed it. Both are optional; you can always type instead, and your browser will ask before the microphone is used.
4b. If you connect your Google account
You can choose to connect your own Google account in your Spark Studio so Spark can show you your Google Search, Google Analytics and Google Business Profile numbers. Spark only reads your numbers. It never posts, changes or deletes anything in your Google account.
Spark uses this information only to show your numbers to you in your Studio and in your monthly check-up, and to keep your connection working. Spark keeps your Google connection encrypted. Spark saves a copy of your latest numbers for about a day. Spark does not sell this information, does not use it for ads, and does not use it to train AI models. Spark shares it only if you ask (for example, a check-up you share with a partner), if the law requires it, or with the service providers that store Spark’s data for us under strict contracts.
You can disconnect any time in your Studio (Google numbers → Disconnect). Spark then removes its access at Google and deletes its copy right away. You can also remove Spark at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
SparkMyName’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
4c. If you turn on “Post for me” or share with an agency
Post for me. If you turn on Post for me in your Spark Studio, you link your own social and Google Business accounts on each app’s own sign-in page. Spark never sees your passwords. Spark uses a posting service to publish the pieces you approve, on the days you choose. To do that, the posting service receives the picture or video, the caption and the time for each approved piece, and it keeps the connection to the accounts you linked. Spark posts only pieces you approved yourself. You can turn Post for me off or unlink your accounts at any time in your Studio; Spark then cancels anything still waiting to post.
Sharing with an agency or partner. If you choose “Let my agency help” or send a partner your share link, they can see that month’s pieces and captions, approve them, leave notes and move them. They never see your billing, your payment details or your Studio code. You can stop sharing at any time.
5. Data retention
We keep your account and the brands and assets you’ve created so you can return and access them. We also retain your acknowledgment records — the terms you accepted, with your name, email, date, and version — as part of our business and legal records, and we may keep these even after an account is deleted, to the extent needed to establish what was agreed to or to comply with law. You can ask us to delete your data at any time (see Section 6).
6. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing support@sparkmyname.com. We’ll respond within a reasonable time. Note that we may retain certain limited records — such as the terms you accepted before downloading — where we have a legal or legitimate business reason to keep them.
7. California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
This section is written for California residents and uses the terms defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA). We’re providing these disclosures as a matter of good practice and transparency, whether or not SparkMyName meets the statutory revenue or data-volume thresholds that trigger CCPA’s full requirements for a given business.
Categories of personal information we collect
- Identifiers — your email address.
- Commercial information — records of what you purchased and when.
- Internet or network activity — basic technical/usage data your browser sends, used to keep the service working, and, if you accept optional analytics, the first-party site-measurement events in Section 4 (no advertising or cross-site tracking).
- Your submitted content — the business description you type, and the brand assets generated from it.
We do not knowingly collect precise geolocation, biometric information, health information, government ID numbers, or other “sensitive personal information” as CPRA defines that term, and payment card details are handled entirely by our payment processor — we never receive or store your full card number.
Sources
We collect personal information directly from you (what you type or submit), and automatically through your use of the site. Our payment processor confirms order and payment status back to us; it does not send us your card number.
Purposes
See Section 2 above — generating and delivering your Brand Identity Strategy, processing payment, account access, support, and improving the service.
Do we sell or share personal information?
No. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. The service providers listed in Section 3 process data on our behalf, under confidentiality and purpose-limitation terms, to run SparkMyName — that is not a sale or a share under the law.
Your California rights
- Right to know — what personal information we’ve collected, used, disclosed, and the categories of sources and recipients.
- Right to delete — ask us to delete personal information we’ve collected from you, subject to certain legal exceptions (see Section 5 on retention).
- Right to correct — ask us to fix inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
- Right to opt out of sale/sharing — we don’t sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. Even so, we honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal: when your browser sends it, optional analytics is switched off automatically and you are not asked. You can also switch it off any time from “Cookie settings” in the footer.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information — not applicable; we don’t collect sensitive personal information as CPRA defines it.
- Right to non-discrimination — we will not deny you goods or services, charge you a different price, or provide a different level of quality because you exercised any of these rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@sparkmyname.com from the email address on your account (this is how we verify a request came from you); if you can’t use that address, tell us why and we’ll ask for other reasonable verification. You can also have an authorized agent submit a request on your behalf — we may still ask you to verify your own identity directly. We’ll respond within 45 days, or let you know if we need a one-time 45-day extension.
Shine the Light (Cal. Civ. Code §1798.83)
We do not share your personal information with third parties for those third parties’ own direct marketing purposes, so there is nothing to disclose under this separate California law.
8. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including passwordless “magic-link” sign-in so there is no password to be stolen. No method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.
9. Children
SparkMyName is intended for adults building businesses and is not directed to anyone under 18. Please do not use the service or provide information if you are under 18.
9a. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland
SparkMyName is operated from the United States by VORREX IGNITE LLC, which is the controller of the personal information described in this policy; you can reach us at support@sparkmyname.com. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, our lawful bases are: performance of our contract with you (delivering your order, your Studio and support); our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving the service and in sending the small number of follow-up notes described in Section 2, which you can stop at any time; consent, for optional site analytics (the cookie banner, which you can withdraw at any time from “Cookie settings”) and where your browser asks before using the microphone; and legal obligation, for the records we must keep. Your information is processed in the United States by us and by the categories of service providers listed in Section 3, under contracts that require them to protect it, and for transfers from the EEA/UK we rely on standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard. We keep your information for as long as your account exists and for the periods described in Section 5. You have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it; email us and we will answer within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority where you live.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy from time to time; the “last updated” date reflects the current version. If we make a material change to what we collect or how we use it, we will tell account holders by email and post a notice on this page before the change takes effect. Questions about your privacy, including the California rights above? Email support@sparkmyname.com.
